Biogen Completes Sale of Equity Stake in Biosimilar Joint Venture to Samsung Biologics for $2.3 Billion

Biogen has completed the sale of the company’s equity stake in the Samsung Bioepis joint venture to Samsung Biologics for a total consideration of up to USD$2.3 billion, of which $1 billion in cash was due at closing and has been received. The terms of the agreement were first announced on January 27, 2022.

Together Biogen and Samsung Bioepis will continue with their exclusive agreements, including the commercialization of their current biosimilars portfolio including BENEPALI™, FLIXABI™, IMRALDI™ in Europe and the potential upcoming launches of BYOOVIZ™ and the potential filings for SB15 in major markets worldwide. In addition, Biogen plans to pursue further biosimilar opportunities in order to provide patient access to biologic medicines and to contribute to healthcare sustainability.
